As of the Spring of 2016 I’m the Regional Coordinator for Code Club in Yorkshire and the North East. Code Club is a nationwide network of volunteer-led after school coding clubs for children aged 9-11, all completely free to attend, and there are more than 4000 clubs in the UK and growing fast.
My role is to develop and support Code Club in the region by helping recruit volunteers, offer training, hold meetups, support schools, libraries and other venues in setting up and running their clubs. I’m absolutely thrilled to be in this role. I’ve been running Code Clubs for North Yorkshire Libraries for over a year and it’s great to be able to work promoting them – and both my children benefit too.
I’ve got events coming up in Bedale, Ripon, Scarborough and Newcastle with more planned. So if you are local and would like to know more about running a Code Club or volunteering for one, please do come along – they’re free to attend.
